How to load film into a manual camera






















Before you load film into a Mini 8, you have to insert two AA (double A) batteries into the battery compartment. The camera likely came with them in a small, separate package. To load the film, pull up on the film rewind knob. The back cover will pop open. Insert a new roll of film in the film compartment on the left side of the camera. Pull the film out of the camera until the tip of the film reaches the take up spool. Then insert the tip of the film into the slot on the take up spool. If your film has sprocket holes on only one side of the film, when loaded into the projector they have to be on the inside of the projector as opposed to on the side that is the closest to you. If you load the film wrong at this point, you run the risk of the projector tearing holes through your film.


Load the film with the exposure mode dial set at "X" and advance to the first exposure. (See page 8) with film in the camera, avoid direct sunlight. Two Alkaline batteries are packed separately. Be sure to the top of film box and insert it into the Memo Holder on the back cover Of the camera. Load the new film cartridge into the camera. Hold it by the sides. Then, slide the film into the film compartment. The cartridge should slide in easily, and then pop securely into place. The metal contacts should be facing down, the dark slide should be facing up, and tab should be facing out of the camera slot toward you.
